Veto Session Update
  • Gov. George Ryan will hold a news conference tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 30) to announce that the National Center for Public Policy in Higher Education has ranked Illinois as the #1 higher education system in the United States. Illinois Community College Board chair Ed Duffy will join other higher education officials in the 11:15 AM briefing at the State Capitol.

  • House Joint Resolution 19 was amended by the Illinois Senate today and returned to the Illinois House for its concurrence (approval of the Senate amendment). It appears probable that the measure will pass both houses. Sponsored by Sen. Steve Rauschenberger (R-Elgin) and Rep. Connie Howard (D-Chicago), HJR 19 calls for a study of part-time and non-tenure-track benefits in Illinois higher education.
