ICCTA Board Highlights
April 30, 2003

The ICCTA Board of Representatives took the following actions at its April 29, 2003, meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Springfield, Illinois:

  • Reviewed the 2 priority issues for Community College Lobby Day on April 30:
    1) Support of the FY 2004 community college budget at the Governor's level
    2) Opposition to Senate Bill 1586, which would require video/audiotaping of
          closed meetings;
  • Learned that Gov. Blagojevich has proposed moving workforce training grants from the Illinois Community College Board to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and advanced technology grants from ICCB to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services;
  • Received an update on the Bush administration's proposal to eliminate the Perkins grant program in fiscal year 2005;
  • Encouraged trustees to seek congressional co-sponsors for House Resolution 442, which would expand the Hope Scholarship Credit to cover fees, books and supplies; and
  • Were notified that the Executive Committee's summer retreat has been scheduled for August 15-16 in Springfield.
