ICCTA Board Highlights
Nov. 17, 2002
The ICCTA Board of Representatives took the following
actions at its Nov. 15, 2003, meeting at the Swissotel in Chicago, Illinois:
- Voted to support attempts in the Illinois Senate to override the Governor’s veto of $3.7 million
in "hold harmless" funds. This money – which was cut by Gov. Rod Blagojevich in the FY 04 state budget –
is essential for full implementation of the new community college system funding formula. Trustees are
urged to ask their state senators to support the override of House Bill 2671 during the Nov. 18 - 20 veto session;
- Endorsed three priorities for the Illinois Community College Board’s FY 05 operating budget request:
1) Restoration of $3.7 million in FY 2004 "hold harmless" funds;
2) Restoration of all or most of the $13 million Special Populations Grant that was cut in 2001; and
3) Improvement of unrestricted grant funding for community colleges;
- Were updated on the search for a new ICCB president/CEO. Interviews have been completed with the top five candidates:
* Dr. Marguerite Boyd, vice president of academic and student services, Truman College;
* Dr. Charles Evans, director of university outreach and public services, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign;
* Joe D. May, president, Colorado Community College System;
